Scribe is a program dedicated to assisting the director of the College's tutorial program to deliver a professional and well-organised program for the students. You can view the Scribe system in action by clicking on the demonstrations listed on the right.  To view the Scribe Demonstrations read the sections titled "Playback Control" and "Minimum System Requirements" detailed on this page below.

Playback Control

Each demonstration contains a playback control which allows you to set the pace of the movie as necessary. For example, using the "Pause" button allows you to pause the movie until you have have finished reading and processing the necessary information.

The playback control (displayed below) is located at the top of each demonstration and contains the following buttons:

Play: plays the movie (or restarts the movie if pause has been pressed)
Back: goes back one frame 
Forward: goes forward one frame 
Pause: pauses the movie (until Play is pressed)
Exit: closes the web browser or movie window
Rewind: restarts the movie from the beginning  
Progress bar shows users where there are (graphically) in a movie.

Minimum System Requirements

You will need Flash 5 (or higher) installed on your computer to view the Scribe demonstrations, if you don't have flash click here to download the plugin.

The optimal screen resolution to run the Scribe Demonstrations is at least 1024 by 768 with the color depth of at least 16 bit. Anything less may cause portions of the demonstration screen content to be invisible (or to appear outside the visible screen area). It is very important that you take a moment to make sure that your screen is configured to match the  minimum system requirements required to run the demonstrations. Below is a set of instructions to access and modify your PC's screen properties.

  1. Click the Start Button at the bottom left.
  2. Choose Settings, then Control Panel.
  3. In the Control Panel window, double-click the Display icon.
  4. A window called Display Properties will appear. Click the tab marked Settings.
  5. In the lower right hand corner you will find a Screen Area slide bar. Click the bar slider, and move it side-to-side to select the 1024x768 screen resolution.
  6. Access the drop-down Colors menu and make sure the color depth is set to at least 16 bit.
  7. Click the OK button.
  8. Depending on your video card, a warning box may (or may not) appear telling you to restart your computer. Select OK.
  9. Another window will ask you if you want to keep the new settings. Select OK.
  10. Your screen will now change to 1024x768 resolution.
